Put Off The Old And
Put On The New
You were taught,
with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self which is being
corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
and to put on the new self...Ephesians 4:22-24
When we put off the
old nature and put on the new self, we are positioning ourselves to operate
under the atmosphere of possibilities in Christ. Increase becomes so real in
our lives. When you put off, you separate yourself from something or get rid of
it. Bible tells us to put off deceitful desires, corrupt attitudes and old ways
of thinking.
Child of God, there
are certain attitudes and negative thoughts that you must put off or reject
just in the same manner that you put off dirty clothes. These are attitudes
that made life unhappy, miserable, corrupt, dead, selfish and restless for you.
If you are willing, the first step in putting off the old self is by
recognizing these old attitudes. The next step is to recognize the wonderful
possibilities of the new life God has designed for us. Then also you will need
to renew your mind with the Word of God and begin to align your ways with
God’s.
Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be
ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that
good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” As you daily renew your
mind, you will begin to live and think like God and conform to His image. When
we put on our new self, we exhibit the life of God and we live in
possibilities.
Prayer
Father, I thank You
that You have called me to a new life in Christ Jesus and this new life opens
me to a life of possibilities. Please help me to understand and put into
practice this great principle of putting off the old self and putting on the
new. Thank You in Jesus’ name. Amen.
